Victory Garden

A long time ago I started a series of mixed media pieces about my mom's childhood during the war, including imagery from propaganda posters, etc. One of the things that caught my imagination was the idea of a Victory Garden.

I have been thinking of this country's current situation as being very analogous to the Depression-World War II years, so when I saw this photo of the First Lady planting a garden on the White House lawn, I just had to smile.

If somebody were to ask me who my heroines were today, I'd have to say Eleanor Roosevelt and Michelle Obama. Keepin' it real!
