How Can I Recycle....

For those of you who want to know how to recycle bowling balls, used orthopedic corsets, or burnt matchsticks, have faith: the folks at "How Can I Recycle This?" can tell you. I'm not kidding, you can write to them and ask what you can do with any object, and they'll try to find a solution for you. They can advise you about any pitfalls the chemical make up of the object may pose, as well, so if they can't think of a creative use for said object, they can tell you whether or not it can go to the recycling center. A word of caution, though; the site is based in England, and their recycling guidelines may be different from those here in the states.

They had no good re-use ideas for this lovely lime green bowling ball, sadly. They suggested Freecycle.

  1. There is a local artist here (Olympia, WA) who does mosaic tile over old bowling balls to turn them into garden art - sort of a reinterpretation of those Victorian gazing balls. Broken pottery would be perfect to use for this.

  2. Ooh, what a GREAT idea!!! Thanks, Denise!
